Who Should Get a Flu Shot, and When
Flu season generally runs from October through March. It takes about two weeks after the shot for protection to build, so September or October is the ideal window, but a shot later in the season is still worth getting. Almost everyone from 6 months old and up should get an annual flu shot, including people who are healthy and rarely get sick.

Vaccine Options by Age
We stock a vaccine for every age we vaccinate, and your provider selects the right one. You don't need to know which before you come in.
6 Months to 64
A cell-based vaccine. It is grown in cell culture rather than in eggs, which makes it egg-free.
Currently stocked: Flucelvax.
65 and Over
An adjuvanted vaccine, formulated to produce a stronger immune response in older adults.
Currently stocked: FLUAD.

A flu shot can be given even with a mild cold or illness such as a runny nose, congestion, cough, or sore throat.
Can I get a flu shot and a COVID vaccine at the same time?
Yes, flu and COVID vaccines can be given during the same visit.
Does the flu shot give you the flu?
No. The flu vaccine cannot cause flu. Some people get a sore arm, feel tired, or run a mild temperature for a day or so, which is the immune system responding rather than an infection.
