AFC Woodbridge Joins Prince William County’s Back-to-School Community Event
Supporting Local Families at One of the Area’s Largest Back-to-School Events
At AFC Woodbridge, we believe in more than just healthcare, we believe in community. That’s why we were proud to sponsor and participate in the annual Prince William County Community Foundation & Prince William County Public Schools “Back to School” event. With over 9,000 attendees, it was one of the biggest community events of the year, and we were honored to be part of it.
Prince William County Community Foundation (PWCCF) led by Dr. Vanessa Gattis is a true people’s Foundation. The Foundation works tirelessly to support Prince William’s community through various initiatives. One of the main areas of interest of PWCCF is to support parents in getting their kids to school for a good education and a better future. One of the biggest events organized by the PWCCF every year is the annual “Back-to-School Community Event’. This year, the event took place on 8/2/2025 at Garfield School and was special. Over 9,000+ people of the local community, mostly students and their parents, and other key stakeholders in the Prince William Community made the event one of the most successful events in Prince William County over the past few years. Dr LaTanya McDade, PWCS Superintendent presided the event. She addressed the audience with highly motivated messages and encouraged parents to make sure that their kids get their vaccines and school physicals done. A key message was spread to the audience: No vaccine, No school.
Partnering to Keep Students Healthy and Ready for the School Year
As a healthcare partner at the event, our team was on-site connecting with families, answering health-related questions, and sharing valuable information about services like school physicals, immunizations, urgent care, and more. We also gave out AFC swag and health resources to help families prepare for a successful, healthy school year.
Since last year, we partnered with PWCCF to offer free school physicals to Prince William County students. The same partnership is still alive and will help to offer free school physicals to the same audience this year from 8/15/2025 to 9/15/2025. Hundreds of students attending Prince William County’s school will take advantage of the project.
Why Back-to-School Health Matters
Heading back to class isn’t just about school supplies—it’s about staying healthy. Many schools in Prince William County require immunizations and physicals before students can start the year. AFC Woodbridge offers convenient, walk-in school physicals and immunizations, all with short wait times and extended hours.
Whether your child needs a last-minute school physical or your whole family needs a flu shot before fall, we’re here to help—no appointment needed.
Proud to Serve the Woodbridge Community
This event is just one of the many ways AFC Woodbridge supports families in Prince William County. We’re committed to keeping our community healthy, both in and out of the clinic.
