As lockdowns are easing up everywhere, and countries are considering reopening, you might wonder if it is safe to travel. While globetrotting is nearly impossible during the pandemic, it is still possible to enjoy a quiet, cozy, and safe getaway. Let’s find out how.

Practice caution

We recommend that you opt for trips that are more direct and one that does not require you to travel through different modes of transportation. The safest way to travel during a pandemic is through your own car. It is best if you opt for door-to-door travels so that you can do so through your car.

We will only recommend flying if you plan to visit family across the border or if there is an emergency. Avoid traveling for leisure. Moreover, bear in mind that a non-stop flight is much safer than one with several stop-overs. This will ensure that you face limited exposure to  the virus. Additionally, avoid choosing spots and activities that require you to commute through public transportation. During a pandemic, it is best if you choose to walk or take bike rides.

The essentials

Don’t opt for a time when traveling is on the rise. Consider going during an off-peak time to avoid the crowd and heavy traffic. Moreover, if it is a long road trip, make sure to pack in some edibles for a quick bite when you get hungry. Be sure to wear a face mask and carry a hand sanitizer. Avoid close contact by staying at least 6 feet apart (about two arms’ length) from anyone who is not from your household.

Make it a habit to wash your hands often and for at least 20 seconds. Make sure to avoid contact at all times with someone who is ill. When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth using the elbow and not your palm.

Lodging

Opt for lodging that has open windows as it facilitates proper air circulation. A room with a balcony will be just perfect during a pandemic. To sum up, you should consider staying in a place that comes with maximum open space. A clean room, natural air circulation, coupled with you practicing basic hygiene, will definitely keep you from all the risks.

Wrapping up

Make sure to pay a visit to an urgent care center before and after your trip as a precautionary measure. This will give you peace of mind that you took adequate safety measures while traveling.
