Modesto CA Routine Checkups at AFC Urgent Care

The Importance of Routine Checkups

Routine checkups are important for everyone, no matter their age. Many jobs require physicals to ensure that employees are in good shape to carry out their duties. Many people also elect to have them done when they notice something seems wrong or different, or simply because it's been a year.

Your regular doctor is probably the first place you go when you’re in need of a Routine checkup, and that works well for lots of people. Keeping your medical records updated with your doctor allows them to better prescribe medication and monitor any changes to your history. However, what happens when you need to be seen quickly and the doctor's office can't work you into the schedule? That's where AFC comes in.

Why Choose AFC

AFC is a great option when you need a Routine checkup or other healthcare quickly. Our providers are capable of giving you the same comprehensive physical you'd receive in a primary doctor's office. However, you can choose to make an appointment or simply walk into an AFC when you're ready to be seen. Our short wait times ensure that you can be in and out as fast as possible.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • What's the difference between a routine checkup and a physical?

A routine checkup is a brief wellness visit focused on your current health status, vital signs, and addressing any immediate health concerns. A physical is a more comprehensive exam that includes detailed medical history, full physical examination, and baseline health assessment. Routine checkups are typically shorter and less formal.

  • How often should I get routine checkups?

This depends on your age, health status, and any chronic conditions you have. Generally, healthy adults should have at least one checkup per year. Those with chronic conditions may need more frequent visits. Our providers will recommend an appropriate schedule based on your individual health needs.

  • Can I do a routine checkup as a walk-in?

Yes! AFC Modesto welcomes walk-ins for routine checkups. While scheduling ahead can reduce wait times, you're welcome to drop in whenever it's convenient. Call (209) 846-3442 to ask about current wait times, or save your spot online to minimize waiting.

  • Will lab work be included in my routine checkup?

Lab work is not automatically included in every routine checkup, but may be recommended based on your age, health history, and any symptoms you're experiencing. Our provider will discuss whether lab testing is appropriate for you. We have on-site lab capabilities for convenience.

  • What should I bring to my routine checkup?

Please bring: a valid form of ID, your insurance card (if you have insurance), a list of current medications, and any relevant medical records from other providers. If it's your first visit to AFC, arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete intake paperwork.
