Modesto CA Sports/School Physicals at AFC Urgent Care

Get a Physical Without the Wait

School, sports and camp physicals are often required to ensure participants are in good health. They’re usually simple exams that assess a patient’s overall health and wellness, but they often need to be booked well in advance. If you’re in need of a sports, school, or camp physical and are having trouble getting into your doctor’s office anytime soon, why not visit your local AFC? You’re welcome to make an appointment, or you can just walk in anytime. We strive to keep wait times to a minimum, so you can get the physical you need and get on with your day.

What Happens if the Physical Reveals a Problem?

If your provider notices something that needs a closer look during your physical, the process is similar to that of your regular doctor. We might order labs or prescribe a medication. However, because our labs and pharmacy services are all in-house, you’re able to get speedier results – often for less than you’d pay going the traditional route. We’re capable of handling:

  • X-rays
  • Blood tests
  • STD screenings
  • Pre-operation bloodwork

All these services are performed right at our locations, typically without a need for a follow-up visit.

AFC Urgent Care FAQs

  • What is included in a sports/school physical?

A sports/school physical includes vital signs, medical history review, physical exam, cardiovascular assessment, neurological screening, orthopedic exam, and vision/hearing screening. These exams ensure students are healthy enough to participate in sports and school activities safely.

  • When should my child get a sports/school physical?

School physicals should be completed before the school year begins, typically by late August. Sports physicals should be done before athletic season starts. Most schools require physicals dated within the past 12-13 months. We recommend scheduling in July or early August to avoid rush times.

  • Do I need an appointment for a sports/school physical?

While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend scheduling appointments for physicals to ensure adequate time with the provider. During back-to-school season, appointments fill up quickly. Call (209) 846-3442 or save your spot online to guarantee a convenient time.

  • How much does a sports/school physical cost ?

Sports and school physicals are affordable and often covered by insurance as preventive care. If you have insurance, the cost may be minimal or free. Uninsured patients receive competitive cash pay rates. Call us for specific pricing and to verify your insurance coverage.

  • Will my child receive a physical exam form to take to school?

Yes, we can provide the required physical exam form that schools and sports organizations need. If you have a specific form from your school or sports league, bring it with you, and we'll complete it during the exam. You'll receive the signed form to submit to your child's school.
