  • Norovirus - Virus that is highly contagious and commonly spread through food or water that is contaminated or through close contact with others who have the virus. Norovirus can cause diarrhea, stomach pain and vomiting.
  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough) - Contagious disease caused by a bacteria called Bordetella pertussis. Recovery from Whooping Cough can take up to three months.
  • Pneumonia - Infection of the lungs caused by bacteria, fungi or viruses. General symptoms might include trouble breathing, fever and chest pain.
  • Salmonella - Usually transmitted due of the consumption of raw or undercooked meat, egg products or poultry resulting in stomach flu.
  • Shigellosis - Spread through contaminated water and food, this bacterial infection irritates the intestines and usually causes diarrhea.
  • Syphilis - Bacterial infection spread by sexual contact. It is spread from person to person via skin or contact with these sores.
  • Staphylococcus (Staph) - Staph bacteria can spread through cuts, abrasions and close contact. Staph infections can spread by razors and in locker room equipment.
  • Tick-borne infections (Lyme disease) - The infection is caused by a deer tick bite. Bacteria from the bite makes its way into your bloodstream.
  • Tuberculosis - Caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attacks the lungs but can also attack other parts of the body.
