What is AFC Urgent Care telecare/video visit?
At-home, remote healthcare is called telecare, and it’s similar to regular care from a doctor, but of course, you’ll get this care at home! It can be provided via the phone or internet, and when it’s done over the internet in a videoconference, this is a video visit with a doctor. A patient is able to speak with the doctor remotely and receive remote diagnosis and treatment.
It’s important to understand that telecare is for minor illnesses and injuries, and symptoms like flu symptoms, but it’s not for major health situations that could be or are life-threatening (this requires emergency care at the emergency room). With telecare, a doctor can provide a basic, visual physical exam too. This kind of care might be necessary in certain situations like those in which there’s a risk of exposing yourself, your family, or others to an illness.
Is telehealth the same as telecare?
Both telehealth and telecare can refer to the same kind of healthcare even though they’re technically somewhat different. Along with the terms telemedicine and video visit, telehealth and telecare can be used to describe remote healthcare for common, minor health conditions/symptoms like flu symptoms or a simple injury.
What can telecare address?
Remember, telecare can address only minor, non-life-threatening health conditions and symptoms. This includes ear infections, simple fractures, mild flu symptoms, and more. For cold- or flu-like symptoms in particular, a telecare doctor will determine whether they should be addressed or not, and if so, he or she will recommend either in-person or curbside testing or another service like a prescription for medicine. Thanks to telecare, a patient like you can get diagnosed, be referred for treatment, get a checkup, or get just about any other medical service from home!
Is telecare less expensive than regular healthcare?
Generally, yes, telecare is less expensive than a regular doctor’s visit. It’s also covered by most health insurances. You’ll find both of these things are the case with AFC Urgent Care Easley. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurances too, and for patients who don’t have insurance, we offer discounted cash-pay options.
