What is an Immigration Medical Exam?
An immigration medical exam is a mandatory step for those applying for a Green Card or undergoing U.S. Naturalization. This exam ensures applicants meet the health standards set by USCIS.
What is a Civil Surgeon?
Civil Surgeons are medical doctors designated by USCIS to conduct medical examinations for immigration status applicants. They assess physical and mental health, vaccination records, and perform screenings to complete Form I-693, which is required for immigration applications.
What to Expect During Your Visit
The full process usually takes 2 to 3 visits to complete. All lab work must be done at our clinic. We’re not able to accept lab results from other facilities.

How Long Does the Process Take?
The process usually takes about 7 days after the first appointment, provided no additional testing or vaccinations are required. After the second appointment, your completed Form I-693 will be ready.
Mandatory Vaccinations
Depending on age, medical history, and test results, USCIS requires the following vaccinations:
VACCINATIONS
- TdAP (7 years of age or older) (DTaP if age between 2 months to 6 years)
- MMR (ONLY 12 months of age and older)
- VARICELLA (ONLY 12 months of age or older)
- FLU (Only during Flu season) (ONLY 6 months of age older)
- PNEUMOCOCCAL (ONLY if 65 years of age or older)
- MENINGOCOCCAL (ONLY 11 to 18 years of age)
- HEPATITIS A (ONLY 12 months to 18 years of age)
- HEPATITIS B (ONLY 59 or younger)
LAB TESTS
- RPR (Syphilis) (15 years of age or older)
- GONORRHEA (15 years of age or older)
- QUANTIFERON (TB Gold Test) (2 years of age or older) The TB Gold test (used to screen for tuberculosis) typically takes 7 to 10 days for results, though timing may vary.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
To make the process smoother, please bring: a proper ID and vaccination records.
A government issued (U.S. or patient’s country of origin) driver’s license, or passport.
For patients under 14 years of age, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will accept other proof of ID that shows name, date, and place of birth (birth certificates or affidavits with translation, if necessary).
What is the Cost of an Immigration Exam?
The cost for the immigration physical exam is $400. The cost of any required vaccines and lab test are extra.
