How Long Does a Visit Usually Take?

Most visits at AFC Lenoir take under an hour from check-in to checkout. While we can get busy during peak times, we move efficiently and prioritize patient care. AFC operates as a walk-in clinic, so although your wait time is unpredictable, it’s considerably shorter than the emergency room.

To save yourself even more time, we recommend using our online reservation tool to fill out any necessary paperwork before your visit.

Can I Bring My Child in for Care?

Yes, we treat children (ages 6 months and older), teens, and adults! From fevers and sore throats to cuts and sprains, we’re here when your little one needs help and your pediatrician isn’t available. In fact, parents find it convenient that a single location like AFC can care for the whole family, so you only have to make one trip! Whether your child needs treatment or is just waiting with you, our team will provide a safe and comfortable space for your family.

Do You See Workers’ Comp Cases?

We do. AFC Lenoir works closely with local employers and employees to provide care for non-life-threatening work injuries. We’ll handle everything from the pre-employment physical to necessary immunizations and any cut, burn, or laceration that might occur on the job site. Just let us know if it’s a work-related visit when you check in.

Can I Just Walk In, or Do I Need an Appointment?

No appointment necessary! One of the biggest benefits of our urgent care is the flexibility it offers. Walk-ins are always welcome, and online check-in is available if you prefer to hold your spot ahead of time.

AFC also offers extended hours, outside of the normal 9-5 and we’re open most holidays. Click here to see our hours of operation.

Can I Get a Prescription if I Need One?

Our clinic is equipped to prescribe you medication as part of your treatment plan, but we will have to send the prescription to your preferred pharmacy. Whether it’s for an infection or another condition, we’ll make sure you leave with a plan in place. Our team of expert providers will advise you on medication management and follow-up care when needed.

How Do I Know if You Take My Insurance?

AFC Lenoir accepts most major insurance plans. We work with Amerihealth Caritas North Carolina, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Tricare, and Medicare just to name a few. If you’re unsure whether yours is included, just give us a quick call. We’re happy to check for you. No insurance? We offer competitive self-pay options as well.

Do You Offer Preventive Care?

We do not offer annual wellness exams or long-term preventive care. However, we do provide some routine services that help you stay healthy, such as flu shotstravel medicine, and basic lab services. Here at AFC, we also prioritize health education and work diligently to provide tips and resources to help you and your family maintain a healthier lifestyle.
