Radiologic Technologist - PT

Objective: The AFC Urgent Care X-ray Tech conducts radiologic procedures to provide data to assist in the diagnosis of patients. The position's tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
  • Positions patients utilizing immobilization devices.
  • Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Utilizes knowledge of age-specific needs of the patient in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications- Required Job Qualifications include:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Radiographers.
  • ARRT Certification.
  • Current New York licensure or permit to practice medical imagining.
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.

This is a Part-Time Position with no requirement of weekends!

Medical Assistant (Full Time and Part Time)

Compensation: Commensurate with Experience – Potential for F/T

Medical Assistants needed at AFC Urgent Care, a Walk-In Urgent Care Center in Throgs Neck, NY, that provides compassionate, quality medical and patient care in a convenient location. AFC Urgent Care is a unique group of urgent care medical facilities, opened in response to a growing need for immediate physician care in a convenient, comfortable environment. Founded in 2005, our mission is to treat every patient with respect and compassion, and to serve our communities by providing the highest quality medical care.

Objective: Assist physicians in overall patient care, including phlebotomy, lab duties, triaging, greeting and registering patients and handle front office administrative tasks.

Reports to: Physician on Duty / Operations Manager / Center Administrator

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

  • Escort patient to room
  • Take vital signs, triage and scribe for physicians
  • Draw blood, specimen handling, conduct tests (CBC, CMP, Urinalysis, Rapid Strep/Flu,Glucose(finger), mono, splinting/strapping
  • Document patient information (Including detailed information for Workers Comp and No Fault visits)
  • Assist physician in every facet of patient care
  • Discharge patients from room with instructions
  • Clean rooms
  • Ensure patient flow is speedy and organized
  • Inventory supplies, replenish supplies when received
  • Assist in maintaining lab and medical equipment
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facility
  • Greet and register patients; verify insurance

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting

Medical Scribe

Reports to: Physician / Medical Director / Center Administrator


Scribes are responsible for capturing accurate and detailed information of a provider’s encounter with patients and thoroughly documenting all in the EMR.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Basic requirements before independently scribing with a Provider:

  • Medical terminology and technical spelling
  • Basic anatomy
  • HIPAA compliance
  • Medico-legal risk mitigation
  • Computer aptitude, including functions of the EHR
  • Be able to type at least 60 words per minute with a 100% accuracy
  • Essential elements of documenting a provider-patient encounter
  • General knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of medical personnel

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
    • Patient medical history and physical exam,
    • Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
    • Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
    • Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up
    • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician
  • Prepare work notes as directed by the physician
  • Dictation/faxing/phone calls and clerical tasks.
  • Identify mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and check to correct the information in order to reduce errors. Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record.
  • Collect, organize and catalog data for physician quality reporting system and other quality improvement efforts and format for submission. Assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance.
  • Attend trainings on diverse subjects such as information technology, legal, HIPAA and regulatory compliance. Quickly assimilate new knowledge into processes and procedures. Medical Scribes proofread and edit all the physician’s medical documents for accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Assist with point-of-care testing as needed, including rapid strep, rapid flu and urinalysis.
  • Direct patient flow for long shifts to ensure that patients are seen in the order they come in and to ensure timely encounters.
  • Speak with pharmacies and field questions professionally, as well as accurately documenting changes in the EMR
  • Help facilitate advanced imaging or specialist referrals
  • Organize medical data for review and interpretation by the Provider prior to starting a patient encounter
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment is an indoor clinical space. The job requires prolonged standing and walking throughout the facility, and occasional lifting of light to moderate amounts of weight when assisting co-workers and patients.

  • Must be able to work 4 weekend days in a 4 week time period
  • Must provide potential available hours outside of scheduled hours
  • Must be able to stay past closing times on busy days of the week in until the last patient encounter is completed and locked
  • Must complete the 4 week Scribe training program before independently Scribing for a Provider. The time frame for this may vary depending upon the experience a candidate has.
