<![CDATA[The team at AFC Urgent Care Ooltewah understands that while the summer has its own set of fun activities that none of the other seasons do, it also comes with its fair share of worries. Read on for some ways to overcome your fears when it comes to some of your summer worries.
Common Summer Concerns
First on the list of summer concerns is asthma attacks, especially since the high levels of pollen tend to be an enemy for those who suffer from asthma. As a result of increased pollen levels, a spike of asthma attacks tends to occur during the spring and summer.
In order to prevent an asthma attack as best you can, try to check the weather to see what the pollen numbers for the day are going to be at before heading outdoors. If the levels are really high, staying inside might be the best solution.
Another summer concern is swimmer’s ear. Chances are that a loved one has probably already exhibited symptoms of this medical condition, which can include ear pain, itching in the ear and a feeling of fullness. To help prevent swimmer’s ear, when coming out of the water to dry off, use a towel to also help tilt your head and catch any water that drips out of the ear canal. This can help make certain your ear is cleaned thoroughly after being around water, and the technique can be used after getting out of the shower, too.
Food poisoning is another summer concern, as many people hosts cookouts during the summer. However, while they might be cooking the food to the correct temperature, how it is stored could be causing issues. For instance, much of the food is set up outdoors during a cookout. This can cause food to quickly spoil when it becomes too hot. When hosting your next cookout, remember to put away perishable foods indoors once people have filled their plates.
